Winter Tritina

Winter Tritina

Snow flats down gracefully to wake up the chimney.
Wind whispers from houses to houses to welcome the arriving carol.
Children rush out from doors to enjoy the creation of the snowflake.

Winter is in the dance of snowflakes.
The warm spring flows into the heart of chimney.
It is dressed up to be ready for its special guest, Carol.

The air is full of happiness from the melody of carol.
one of Angel's favorite toys is snowflake.
Wishes are spraying into the sky as a gift for the chimney.

The carnival of the winter begins.
The snowflake starts the celebration by dancing
while Chimney and carol are passing the cheeriness arounf the world.

The final BIG idea

There is my final thesis for the big idea.....
When Children grow up, they will not able to solve their conflict by themselves because their lack of confidence and roles that family played in their childhood will impact the way they think.

EXAMPLE

---> The narrator in Boys and Girls started to act like a girl because her family expect her to work at home and behave in a girl way, so she gave up her thoughts about acting like a boy.

--->The boy Stephen in Memorial Day stopped talking and refused to show his opinion after his parents divorced and separated. However, he didn't tell his parents about his feeling about their marriage because he thought nothing was going to change anyways.

--->The girl killer in White place admitted that she wasn't a good person in the end after her sisters told her a fake story in the game. She never had courage to speak up and also her parents didn't show up to help her when her sister treated her badly, so she became speechless and hopeless in front of her sister.

--->The narrator in I am a mad dog biting myself for sympathy faced all the problems becasue of his girlfriend's gift. In fact, he didn't need to please her by giving gift if he believed his girlfriend would love him whether he is poor or rich. Also, in the end, he left a piece of ice in baby's heart without helping him/her because his parent did the same thing for him during his childhood too .

--->The boy Anthony in A Kid in a Bin hid in a bin because of his fear of skin cancer which caused his mom to die. Even he still cared about his family, but he didn't come out to talk to them face to face. He thought his father may took him home immediately without listening to his reasons or explanations.

--->Helena and Hector in Possum were siblings who were fighting and played the trick on each others. Hector was always become loser because his sister always figured out tricky ways to make her win. Their parents didn’t show up to blame Helena's tricky ideas. In the end, the boy gained his experience and found out the way to play the trick back on his sister.

--->Emma
The girl Emma in Deliberate couldn't speak up her thoughts because she was controlled by adults around her. Once she defend for herself, she may be punished by them. Emma had lived in a safe and loving family, so she did’t realize that how complicated the adults world is until hearing the news about Duane's father death.

The relationship between each story from the map

The similarities that I found in the story are
First, most of the narrators or main character didn't solve their conflict directly. Secondary, the narrators have less confident and hide their feeling , so most of the time the adults, such as, parents come out to give them strong opinions to affect their thoughts. Besides, all the narrators in each story seem to be speechless or hide their inner thoughts. They didn't express their own opinions to let others know what they think. Most important of all, the family pressure had huge impact on child life to lead them what they should be.
However, there are also some differences between each story. At first, the adults ( most of them are the parents in the story) have the different roles to impact the children' thinking. Also the ages of the each narrator are different ,so the ways that they deal with their conflict are different too. Most important of all ,not every characters face or admit the truth. Some of them don't even think that they are making wrong choice.

The idea on the concept map

The big questions: what is the big idea that connects all the stories we have read so far?

1. White places
-She admit she is a bad person after her sisters talks about the story for game
-She didn't speak up to defend herself. She has an inner thoughts but she never told to anyone about them.
-Her parents didn't show up when those horrible events took place. There is none adult appear to help Killer to solve her problems.

2. Kid in a bin
-The narrator lives in a bin because of fear from his mom's death
-Even he cares about his family, but he didn’t come out from a bin to talk to them because he didn't think his dad is going to believe his explanation. He thinks his father is going to take him home immediately.
-He needs somebody to help him solve his problems

3. Boys and Girls
-Narrator got the pressure from her family, social expectation, and timeframe that story took place.
-She admit the fact that she only can act like a girl in the end of story
-Her parent didn't admit her capable work outside the house, and they just keep her at home.

4. Memorial Day
-The narrator changes himself because of his parents’ divorce
-He didn't tell his parents his thoughts about divorce.
-He didn't realize that his action will hurt his mom feeling. He choose to stop talking to defend himself

5. I am a mad dog biting myself
-He wants baby to face the real world, so he didn't feel sorry for him
-His parents didn't help him in his childhood, so he has a piece of ice in his heart too.
-His girlfriend's gift Tucan leads every problem that occurs in the story.

6. Possum
-The siblings are fighting with each other and play the trick on each others.
-Their parents didn’t show up when Helena and Hector are arguing during the game.
-In the end, the boy gains his experience and finds out the way to play the trick on his sister

7. Deliberate
-Emma lived in a safe and loving family, so she didn’t realize that how complicated the world is.
-She had to follow her teachers or adult’s rule and her life was control by them.
-She starts to realize how complicated the real world is after hearing the news that Duane’s father die because he can’t stand living pressure anymore.
